Mrs. Molly Cooper Cox Merritt

Molly Cooper Cox Merritt Marietta, SC Molly Cooper Cox Merritt, 87, went to be with her Lord and savior on May 24, 2026. Born in Greenville County, Molly was the daughter of Ansel Orr and Marie McMakin Cooper. She was a member of Slater Church of God and attended East Spartanburg Church of God for 20 years. She enjoyed serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, above all else. She loved to sing God’s praises as choir director, in a trio and the choir. She spent her time praying and counseling others, caring for the sick as a CNA and home health caregiver. Molly enjoyed teaching others about God as a long time Sunday School teacher and led many to Christ during that time. Molly is survived by her children, Tami Alverson (Steve), and Jerry Cox (Lisa); the extended Merritt Family; her grandchildren, LeAnne Grice, Jessica Grice, Jeremy Cox, Joshua Cox, Ashely Buchanan, Nichole Buchanan, and Brandon Buchanan; her great-grandchildren, Tana Clark (Jason), Abby Green, Rebekah Clark, Gracie Green, Cheyenne Beason, Addy Beason, and Taylin Buchanan; and her great-great-grandchildren, Adalynn, Gus, and Jaxon Bennefield. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband of 27 years, Raburn P. Cox; her second husband of 4 and a half years, Jimmy A. Merritt; and her siblings, Elsie Coggins, Dulcie Story, Janet McMauley Reeves, Ann Cooper, Robert Cooper, and Michael Cooper. The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice, specifically her nurses Elizabeth and Valerie for taking exceptional care of Molly. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 from 12:00pm until 1:15pm with the funeral service to follow at 1:30pm at The Howze Mortuary. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amedisys Hospice at 10 Patewood Drive, Suite 375, Greenville, SC 29615. The service will be livestreamed at 1:20pm.
